7 Essentials For Your Nightstand

When it comes to home decor, you might not necessarily think about styling your nightstand. It’s usually not that big of a space, you only really use it to place your phone on overnight, right? Wrong! There are so many functions for your nightstand that we rarely think of when purchasing it.

While it may seem difficult to decorate such a small space, we have 7 essentials that should be on everyone’s nightstand. Let’s take a look at what they are!

1. Good Lighting

This is important for many obvious reasons, and that’s why we decided to mention it first. Depending on the size of your nightstand, you will want to get a lamp that doesn’t take up too much room, so you still have space for your other items. Pick something that is sleek but still stylish and will provide what it needs to — good lighting!

2. A Clock

Whether it is a working digital clock or just a vintage-style clock used just for the looks, this adds a decorative touch to your nightstand. I mean it is a bedside table, after all, a clock just makes sense! Pick one that matches the aesthetic of your room and preferably with an alarm sound that you wouldn’t mind waking up to each morning. 😉

3. Water Carafe

Few things are worse than waking up in the middle of the night, thirsty, with no water near you. Keep a water carafe on your nightstand to avoid this problem! A cute glass carafe with a cup, like this one from Amazon, would be perfect since it’s a 2-in-1. Plus, it’s sleek and won’t take up much room on your nightstand.

4. A Picture Frame

Of course, a picture frame is important to add a personal touch to your nightstand. Whether it’s a photo of your family, your pets, or your group of friends, choose something special to look at first thing in the morning when you wake up. This is a sure way to make sure you are starting your day off on the right foot. You’ll want to create a smaller frame for this on our Frame Designer and be sure to add an EaselMate to your cart so that you can stand your photo up on your table.

5. A Plant or Flowers

Plants have many benefits in your home, such as reducing pollutants and dust, keeping your room cool, and reducing carbon dioxide. Flowers act as natural mood moderators and can affirmatively affect our emotional health. Both are just pretty to look at! Whether they are real or fake, add a small potted plant to your nightstand for some extra beauty.

6. A Candle

A candle is one of the best things to add to your nightstand. There’s nothing like relaxing in bed before you actually close your eyes for the night with a burning candle giving off some delicious scents. Pick up one of your favorites in a pretty jar to add to your bedside table.

*Note: please exercise extreme caution whenever dealing with a fire hazard! Do not light a candle when there is any chance you could fall asleep before making sure it is fully extinguished.

7. A Good Book or Magazine

While your candle burns, pick up your favorite book or weekly magazine to read before bed. This gives you time to unwind from your day and shut yourself off from the rest of the world, electronically. If you like to journal before bed, you can add that to your nightstand as well, to reflect on another day!
