Our frames proudly displayed the incredible winning works at the heart of Scholastic’s Manhattan office.
What’s It All About?
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have been celebrating creative teens in grades 7–12 since all the way back in 1923. It’s the longest-running and most prestigious program of its kind in the U.S., shining a spotlight on young talent in everything from painting and photography to poetry and short stories. The accolades go beyond North American recognition and are one of the largest scholarship opportunities for budding artists and writers.
Heartstrings are officially tugged.
🤔 Did you know that pop art legend Andy Warhol was a teen winner of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards? Wayyyy before his iconic Campbell’s soup cans, Mr. Warhol received national recognition through this very program. But he is but one of many famous alumni—others include Ken Burns, poet Amanda Gorman, and Stephen King. Those are some heavy hitters!
A National Contest, A Local Display
Every year, thousands of students submit original works across dozens of categories, from sculpture and illustration to journalism and fiction. The top-tier winners receive Gold Medals and a special honor: their work displayed at Scholastic in New York City.. With over 400,000 works submitted each year, the Awards have become a pivotal launchpad for young creatives and one of the largest scholarship opportunities for teen artists and writers in the world.
