How Thick Is a Lithograph? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A traditional lithograph is typically printed on high-quality, thick paper or cardstock, often ranging from 0.3mm to 0.6mm. (about 0.012 to 0.024 inches thick!) Fine art lithographs are usually produced on heavyweight, archival-quality giclee paper<\/a> to enhance durability and longevity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can frame any thinner art from 5\u2033x5\u2033 up to 42\u2033x62\u2033. Our Metal frames have room for artwork up to 1\/4\u2033 thick. (This includes matting, so if your frame has a single mat the artwork shouldn\u2019t exceed 3\/16\u2033 thick and if it is double matted the artwork shouldn\u2019t exceed 1\/8\u2033 thick.) The spring clips that hold your art into the frame will adjust perfectly as long as your art doesn\u2019t exceed this thickness. Our Wood frames have room for artwork up to 1\/8\u2033 thick if they have no mats or one mat, and up to 1\/16\u2033 if they have two mats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are There Prints of Lithographs?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Yes! There are two main types of lithographs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Original Lithographs<\/strong> \u2013 Created directly by the artist on a stone or metal plate and printed in limited editions. Each print is considered an original piece of art. Fancy!<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Reproduction Lithographs<\/strong> \u2013 These are printed copies of original artwork using modern offset or digital printing techniques. While they capture the essence of the original, they are not hand-pulled prints.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
